BWC would like to thank The Fonthill Foundation for awarding ToyBox Early Years a grant of £5,000.
“We are absolutely delighted to have received this £5,000 grant, and we extend our heartfelt thanks for this invaluable support. Grants like these are integral to the work we do at ToyBox, allowing us to provide individualised, trauma-informed care that truly meets the needs of the children who attend.
Many of our families are impacted by trauma and the rising cost of living, with some relying on foodbanks and additional support. This funding will enable us to continue offering essential wrap-around care, including top-up lunches and a nurturing, holistic environment where children – especially those who may be overlooked in larger nurseries – can thrive under the guidance of our highly trained staff. Additionally, this grant will help support staffing costs, ensuring we have the dedicated professionals needed to meet the diverse needs of both children and parents.
Thank you for making a real difference in the lives of the children and families we support.” – Gemma Turner, ToyBox Early Years Manager
Operating from BWC, ToyBox’s mission is to provide a safe and secure environment by putting the needs of children and their families first. Rated outstanding by Ofsted, ToyBox provides a fun, safe environment for children beginning their educational journey.
ToyBox provides trauma-informed wraparound care that recognises and responds to the complex needs of children who have experienced adversity. The pre-school’s approach is built on safety, trust, and empowerment, ensuring that every child receives the compassionate, individualised support they need to thrive.
ToyBox works holistically, collaborating with families, educators, and support services to create a nurturing environment where children feel secure and valued. ToyBox’s trauma-informed staff are trained to recognise behavioural and emotional cues, offering tailored interventions that promote healing, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Beyond childcare, ToyBox’s wraparound care includes specialist support, such as access to therapeutic interventions, SEN assessments, safeguarding advocacy, and parental guidance. By integrating these services, staff help children and families navigate challenges while fostering stability, connection, and long-term well-being.
Every child deserves the opportunity to grow in an environment that understands their experiences and empowers them to build a brighter future. The pre-school’s trauma-informed approach ensures that no child is left behind.
Crucially, ToyBox also supports women to access a range of services and support at BWC including supporting families to access foodbanks, clothes, or basic household items; making referrals to other services within BWC or externally for additional support; and attending multi-agency meetings to advocate for families.
By keeping fees low, ToyBox ensures there are no financial barriers to accessing a great early year’s education. However, the preschool is reliant on funding to provide this vital service to the children and families that need the service most. The grant received from The Fonthill Foundation will allow ToyBox to keep doing just that, helping build the foundation of a better future for the young children who attend the setting.
The Fonthill Foundation, believe that education is the cornerstone of positive change, and community development is the path to a brighter, more inclusive future. Their educational initiatives are carefully designed to foster curiosity, inspire young minds, and provide access to quality education for all.
